Sparkle Presents

Christmas may be over, but New Year's is just days away. It's the perfect time for bubbly champagne, celebrating brand new opportunities to come and all things glittery and sparkly. Maybe you want to get something glamorous for your host or hostess, or something to create sparkle in your own space.

Wytches

When I picked up a copy of Wytches at our local comic book shop, I thought it looked incredible. I read the prologue, which chilled me to the bone, and I believed the reviews by Stephen King and other critics who claimed that it would be the scariest graphic novel of all. While I can't confirm that the review held true upon completing the collection, it did prove to be scary and interesting, but most of all it was provocative, built with metaphors for the anxieties and depressions that many of us face in life.

Please come home.....

Was in my local food market in Fort Lauderdale and saw a group of people standing together just looking at something. I went over and joined them. It was a picture of you and your wife on a magazine cover. One even cried and said “I miss them”. I could not speak and walked away. But now I can, I miss you both please do not forget us.....

Christmas greeting

Dear President Obama and First Lady Michelle, I just watched your 2016 presidential Christmas/Holiday greeting, I didn’t know what to do, to cry or laugh, so I did both. I have it saved in my favorites, when I need to be uplifted I visit it and I need to do that frequently. Thank you for the wonderful eight years of peace, strength and love u provided Americans and the world. Your incredible leadership, as a team was comforting, I never worried about where your guidance would take us as a country, I felt safe. Being the president brings personal sacrifice that I’m sure no one understands unless they and their family fulfills that role. Thank you for all you have done, and your personal sacrifices, wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and hopefully a wonderful 2019 for you, your family and Americans as a whole. God only knows we need it. With great affection, Sally Hewitt

Nuclear Reactors 642 - Some Problems With Thorium As A Nuclear Fuel

I thought it was time to revisit the idea of using thorium as a fuel for nuclear power reactors. India is interested in thorium fuel because it has a lot of thorium and little uranium.

Recently I wrote about the shortage of plutonium-238 which is used to provide power to U.S. satellites on deep space missions. Today, I am going to write about a different use of nuclear isotopes for space exploration.

Most commercial nuclear power reactors around the globe use water for cooling the core. Advanced gas cooled reactors (AGCR) are a new generation of gas-cooled reactors developed and operated in the U.K. They use graphite as a moderator and carbon dioxide as a coolant. They have been a major part of the U.K. fleet of commercial nuclear power reactors since the 1980s.

Vertellis

A good adult game is my absolute favorite: the raunchier, the more inppropriate and irreverent, the better. If it makes you laugh so hard you can't breathe, I want to play it. That said, I also really enjoy a good strategy game, board game and pretty much any other kind of game. Catan? I'm in! Zombie shooting? I'll try it!

Homemade Nog

Even if you're not a fan of the holiday drink, there's something about the yummy scent of eggnog that gets you into the spirit of the season. Sure, you can get any number of commercial nogs, many of which are flavored with everything from peppermint to sugar cookie, but everyone knows that it's like chocolate chip cookies: homemade is always better.

Bearded Pigs are a Thing

The bearded pig is an interesting creature. It's got a big tuft of a beard, but the beard is more than decoration. Before you think it's there to attract mates Odin-style, it's actually part of the pig's foraging arsenal. The beard apparently helps the animal dig up fungus, bugs and roots for a tasty meal. It seems like all that hair would get in the way (or serve as a creepy walkway for any critters who might escape the pig's maw and scramble to get away, which would just freak me the heck out. I would NOT want bugs crawling on my face, pig face or not.

Streets Named After Family Guy, South Park

A subdivision named South Park. That's what the city of Barrie has decided to create, alongside other streets named after famous adult cartoons like Family Guy and The Simpsons. Spooner Street will no longer only be a thing of animated glory but an IRL place to visit and claim to have visited, which is surely the lure that the city council hopes the names will provide the city. The other street, of course, is Evergreen Terrace.
